Johnny Depp to Have Camille Vasquez Represent Him Again in Court Over Alleged Assault of Film Crew Member

It looks like Johnny Depp is headed to civil court once again, this time over the allegation that he assaulted a film crew member on the set of the 2018 “City of Lies.”

The 59-year-old actor is being sued by the plaintiff, Greg Brooks, for an incident on April 13, 2017.

According to reports, Brooks, who worked as the location manager, entered a physical alteration with Depp. While Depp stated that the incident was an act of “self-defense” on behalf of another, details are still a bit murky. However, Brooks claims he’d been put under “emotional distress” and has now decided to sue Depp in court.

The actor is being accused of punching Brooks twice in the ribs following a verbal assault in which the actor allegedly yelled at him and offered Brooks $100,000 to punch him in the face. While some reports suggest Depp may have been drunk, this rumor has not been substantiated by any credible sources.

Depp’s attorneys from his defamation trial will also represent him in this case. Camille Vasquez is set to return as the lead attorney for Depp vs. Brooks, along with another Brown Rudnick lawyer.

During Depp’s deposition, the actor said:

“I had my assistant bring a bottle of wine. And we toasted in I think paper cups. And, you know, no harm, no foul. I apologized. He apologized. Gave him a hug. We embraced. You know, I hugged him. And everything was cool. As a matter of fact, he asked for a selfie with me. And so I took a selfie with him.”

Emma Dandroff’s Conflicting Testimony along with Other Trial Details

Emma Danoff, the script supervisor, came forward and gave testimony claiming she was present at the scene and saw the entire incident unfold. She submitted in a written declaration that nothing like what Brooks described in his statement took place. Instead, she claims Brooks verbally berated an African-American homeless woman and called her “racial and derogatory slurs.”

Danoff was 25 feet away from where Depp was sitting and said, “He immediately stood up from our shared seat on the edge of a planter bench and went over to Brooks to stand up for the woman,” Danoff says. “Mr. Depp said to Mr. Brooks, ‘You can’t talk to her like that. Do you think she is something less than you? Who do you think you are? How dare you?’”

However, she claims no punches were thrown and that she had 40 time-stamped photos as proof.

However, Pat Harris, Brook’s attorney, said in an interview with The Sun:

“The Brooks case is not about two Hollywood celebrities involved in a toxic relationship, it is about the assault on a hard-working film crew member by the star of the production. Mr. Brooks is looking forward to his day in court.”

It should also be noted that Brooks is not believed to have reported the alleged assault to local police at any point.
