We all have to deal with difficult times and for many of us, it sometimes seems as if life throws us far too many curveballs. Every once in a while, however, you get the opportunity to see something that picks up your spirits and lets you know that life really isn’t all that bad. That is the experience that many people had when they watched 10-year-old Calum Courtney singing in front of the judges on Britain’s got talent. It was a moment that they will not soon forget.
One of the reasons why it was such an incredible performance is because Calum is a very nice young man and he has a voice that is truly incredible. What really took many people by surprise, however, is the fact that he deals with a mild case of autism along with having all of that talent. Things can’t always be easy for this young boy but he doesn’t give up hope and he continues to follow his passion and does what he loves.
Calum loves singing and it took all of the confidence that he could possibly muster to get up in front of the judges and the studio audience. The family stood on the sidelines and was quite nervous but they knew he was also very talented.
Would his nerves rule the day or would he provide a performance that would stun the judges?
One of the judges asked Calum if he was nervous and he said that he wasn’t. The judges seem to be a little skeptical when he first set it but as the performance continued to move forward, they knew that someone special was standing in front of them.
Many of those in the UK were already familiar with Calum and knew him as ‘Asada Boy’. Many people in the United States are not familiar with him but he gained attention when he sang for shoppers in an impromptu performance of a Smokey Robinson classic.
Somebody had their camera going when he sang in the store so after it was uploaded online, it went viral. Calum continued to be devoted to pursuing music and he wanted to have that experience in his life.
He made the jump from pursuing music to doing it on television. He wanted to share his talent with Britain’s Got Talent and he did so nicely.
It took months for him to prepare to sing in front of millions of people. When he walked out on the stage, it was no holding back and he wasn’t going to let the opportunity pass by. After he started singing, his sweet voice stole the show and the hearts of the judges.
The family was standing by, knowing that it was going to be something amazing and they couldn’t wait to hear the results.
