If there is one thing we know about hairstyles, it’s the fact that they are not going to stick around very long before something else becomes the flavor of the day. This has always been true and looking back through history, we may see hairstyles from just a few decades ago that we would never consider wearing today. Of course, things have sped up considerably thanks to the Internet and the fact that trends tend to come and go faster than most of us can get to the hairstylist. That being said, it’s still fun to look back on history and see what we may have missed.
The following pictures are a mixture of something you might call hilarious but others may just as well call it frightening. These are actual hairstyles the men were wearing in the 1970s and it seems as if many of them are hairstyles that never returned before. When we look at the current decade, we tend to think that we are very tolerant and that anything goes, but it seems as if it is nothing compared to what we were doing back in the 70s. It’s hard to believe that it was almost 50 years ago that many of these pictures were taken. People are people and we haven’t changed as a human race but we certainly have changed in the way that we wear our hair.
