I’m sure that you have seen your fair share of talk shows and those that are on late at night often have some of the most interesting stars and interviews. After all, the censors have lightened up a little bit after the sun goes down and many children are asleep so the topics of conversation tend to be a little more adult-friendly. Of course, just because something is able to slip by the censors does not make it funny but at one time, you didn’t have to be crude to be humorous.
If you are old enough to remember the Johnny Carson show, you realize that it was a talk show unlike any other. The people would show up on the talk show every week had the ability to make us laugh and they always had something interesting to say. Johnny Carson was able to talk to many famous people, from politicians to actors to comedians and all of them were interesting to watch. It sometimes gave us a look behind the scenes that we would not otherwise have been able to see.
Although Johnny Carson is no longer interviewing people on his late show, the clips of those interviews still continue to circulate. That includes this classic interview that started with Carson speaking to Frank Sinatra and then Don Rickles showed up. As a comedian, he had the ability to make people laugh and his style of comedy was unique, to say the least. From the moment that he arrived on set, he started saying some of the strangest things to Frank Sinatra and getting him to laugh until he almost cried.
Everybody that was sitting on the set that night was a giant as far as their fame was concerned. Frank Sinatra was known for singing, Johnny Carson was known for interviewing and Don Rickles was known for his comedy. As you watch them interacting with each other and especially watch Rickles as he made them laugh, you can’t help but laugh along.
