Anna Kendrick Throws Down Gauntlet and Challenges James Corden To A Hilarious Perfect Riff-Off Contest

Fans of the popular “Pitch Perfect” movies know and love Anna Kendrick. The actress has been in the entertainment business since she was a child, with her parents making the long trek from Portland, Maine to New York City to bring her to theater auditions. Her older brother, Michael Cooke Kendrick, is also an actor. At the age of 12, she earned a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her incredible work in the Broadway show “High Society.” She would go on to make her film debut in 2003’s “Band Camp,” and earn an Independent Spirit Award for her outstanding acting.

Then in 2008, she received her biggest break in the hit vampire drama “Twilight,” playing as Bella’s best friend — a role that she reprised in the films two high-grossing sequels as well. And in 2009, she would earn her first Academy Award nomination in for her role in the 2009 film “Up in the Air,” starring George Clooney. However, her biggest breakthrough role was in 2012’s surprise hit “Pitch Perfect.” Anna even recorded the song “Cups,” which appears in the movie and on the soundtrack.” The song also reached number 2 on the Billboard Adult Pop Chart that year. It seems that singing and performing are really where Anna shines, and in 2015, the Pitch Perfect star took her skills to the Late Late Show with James Corden to challenge the host to a good old fashioned “Rift-Off.”

The video opens with Corden sharing with his audience news about the Late Late show trending on social media before being interrupted by Kendrick, who came dressed ready to battle. The actress challenges the host to a riff-off battle, but he blows her off, stating that it wasn’t the time or place. However, she persists, and Corden has enough. So he grabs his riff-off battle gear (a tracksuit shirt with his name on it) and meets Kendrick in the middle of the floor where with the assistance of the Filharmonics, they engage in a hilarious riff-off battle.
