There’s nothing quite like the excitement of going to a concert and seeing your favorite artist live. I can still remember going to see two of my favorite bands, Queens of the Stone Age and A Perfect Circle, when they played Voodoo Fest in New Orleans one year. It was not only my first concert but also the first time I went crowd surfing! I still consider that the best show I’ve ever been to. To be around thousands of like-minded fans listening to the songs you all know and love is a unique experience that nothing else can match.
As a matter of fact, scientists suggest that those who go to concerts frequently are happier and healthier. They claim that going to a show once every two weeks increases your lifespan by at least nine years! They say that live music increases a person’s feelings of self-worth as well as offers them kinship with others like them. Plus, it provides mental stimulation, which they believe contributes to a person’s sense of well being. While attending a concert every two weeks is an impossibility for most folks, about once a month is still pretty good. In this video, we see some very happy folks at a Pink concert as she performs “Just Give Me A Reason” with Nate Ruess.
In the video, shot by a fan in the audience at a concert in Hamburg, Germany, we see Pink starting the song off, bringing in the crowd to sing the “Oh, oh” chorus. And halfway through the song, Nate comes in and starts to sing his part. The song was written as a collaboration between the two artists. In describing the song, Pink said that it was a conversation that needed to have two perspectives. However, she noted that Nate was a bit reluctant about doing a duet. She explained: “He was like ‘I’ll just do the demo cos I don’t know about duets’ and I totally tricked him into doing it, and I am so glad I was able to. ‘I think now he’s very happy that he did it, I think it’s a beautiful song, and I’m really, really proud of it.”
