‘Tootsie’ And ‘Young Frankenstein’ Actor Has Died At 79

A beloved actress who is well known for her acting in some of the best movies of our time has passed away. Terry Garr, who has struggled with multiple sclerosis for many years has died at the age of 79.

Teri Garr was known for her roles in movies, including Tootsie and Young Frankenstein. Her death was confirmed by her publicist. It was stated that she died in the morning in Los Angeles.

Born December 11, 1944, Teri Garr was known as a comedian and dancer, but she was especially recognized as an actress. She was known for her charming demeanor and her ability to get us all laughing.

Garr was born in Lakeland, Ohio. Her mother was a wardrobe consultant and model. Her father was a vaudevillian performer and actor.

Her father died suddenly when she was young and they moved to California. Garr fell in love with the arts. After graduating from high school, she would enroll at the Actors Studio and UCLA. She majored in Drama and Acting.

She got started in the 60s as a dancer, appearing on The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour and other shows. She also was in a number of Elvis Presley films, although she was not credited for those roles.

When she appeared in Young Frankenstein in 1974, her career began to take off. She played Inga, the assistant to Gene Wilder. In that film, she showed just how adept she was at comedy, and she would be in a number of other movies as a result.

One movie that she was well known for was Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Her husband in the movie was obsessed with aliens, and she was struggling to make sense of it.

In 1982, she starred with Dustin Hoffman in Tootsie. She then continued to plan a number of other films and television shows, including Mr. Mom and Friends.

Garr’s health took a downturn in the late 90s. She had been suffering from symptoms for a number of years but in 1999, was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. She continued to work through it and became an advocate for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
