I’m a woman and I can attest to the fact that most women want their nails to look nice. I’ve never been a fashionista or put a lot of time into my appearance, exactly, but in my youth, I mostly wanted my nails to just be neat and clean. As I got older, I started getting fake nails and was so delighted with how they looked! However, they started weakening my natural nails, so I eventually gave it up. Also, I hated how it felt having them put on and removed. I still go now and again and have a plain manicure and pedicure.
Sometimes I can even convince my hubby to go with me and have his done. One thing I usually see is that most nail technicians don’t have fancy nails. I assume it’s because they’re spending all day doing other people’s nails and don’t have time to do their own. However, that’s not the case for a Texas woman who has earned herself a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records for having the longest nails in the world. Ayanna Williams has all-natural nails that measure 18 feet and nine inches long, which is the length of a Lincoln Town Car, as it turns out.
Ayanna admits that it’s hard to do some household chores around the house, but for that stuff, she just has other people who do them. Also, she’s a nail technician. Don’t ask me how she does other people’s nails when hers are so long, but somehow, she makes it work! When you first look at her nails, it’s somewhat disconcerting at times. For example, a while back, she painted them a gorgeous coral pink and the result was that she looked like she was holding a bumble of crab legs. Ayanna loves her look, saying “They’re just an extension of me. Some people act grossed out by them, but I don’t care. I think they’re incredibly beautiful and special.”

What’s important is that we’re happy with who we are. Ayanna’s look isn’t for me, mainly because they would drive me nuts, but if it makes her happy, I’m all for it. Watch the video below for her story.
