Ricky Gervais’ Partner Reveals Private Cancer Diagnosis

Jane Fallon, the long-time partner of comedian Ricky Gervais, has shared a personal health update with followers. The author explained online that she had recently been diagnosed with breast cancer, something discovered after routine medical testing late last year.

She wrote on Instagram, “So… I thought I should post something as I’ve had a few people notice I’ve been a bit quiet on here lately.” Fallon explained that the diagnosis came about a month earlier, after what began as a normal checkup.

In the same post she wrote, “About a month ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer – very early stage thankfully & the prognosis is excellent.” Fallon said the discovery came after a routine mammogram she had scheduled shortly before Christmas.

She explained that the scan raised concern even though she had no symptoms at all. The radiographer noticed something unusual during the imaging, which led doctors to arrange additional testing and eventually perform a biopsy to determine exactly what they were looking at.

Fallon described the medical process in detail, explaining that the initial scan quickly turned into a series of appointments. There were more mammograms, more biopsies, and an MRI so doctors could locate the specific problem area and plan the next steps carefully.

She admitted the experience had been overwhelming at times while still staying hopeful about the outcome. She wrote, “Since then I’ve had more mammograms, more biopsies and an MRI so they can pinpoint the problem area precisely. It’s been a lot, I’m not going to lie.”

Despite the stress of multiple medical tests, Fallon said treatment is already being planned. She shared that surgery had been scheduled soon and that she mostly wanted to move forward quickly so the procedure would be behind her.

She wrote, “But, my surgery is scheduled for the week after next and I just want to get it over with now.” Fallon also told followers that doctors and medical staff have been supportive during the process.

She added, “I’m getting incredible care and all will be fine but I’m not engaging with much beyond audiobooks & jigsaws tbh.” She then joked about home life, writing, “Dr Eric on duty. Nurse Pickle wondering when lunch is.”

Fallon and Gervais have been together for decades after meeting while studying at University College London in 1982. The couple has remained partners ever since, with Fallon building a successful career as a bestselling novelist over the years.
