A photo of Prince George at Wimbledon made the rounds online, and a lot of people had something to say about it. Some found it funny, but others just felt bad for him.
The picture was taken during the men’s singles final, where the family sat in the Royal Box to watch Jannik Sinner win the title. George was in a full suit and tie, and let’s be honest, he looked kind of done with it all.
He’s only 11, and it was one of the hottest days of the year, so it’s not surprising he wasn’t thrilled. Some joked he looked like he had money on Alcaraz, but more than a few folks just thought he looked hot and miserable.
The Royal Box has a strict dress code, so the outfit wasn’t exactly his choice. Boys are expected to wear a full suit, and women have to go with smart attire. One part of the dress code even says: “Ladies are asked not to wear hats, as they tend to obscure the vision of those seated behind them.”
Plenty of people online questioned why a child had to be stuck in formal clothes in that kind of heat. One person wrote: “Did he have to be in a suit? Surely he could’ve worn a polo and shorts????”
Another said: “Poor child’s roasting alive. I’d be fuming too” and someone else added: “Poor kid is wearing a suit in burning weather.”
It kept going with comments like: “Poor kiddo, felt so sorry for him buttoned up in his suit & tie! No wonder he looks in a huff bless him. Nice shirt & some shorts could have done.”
One more said: “Poor little lad must be so hot and uncomfortable!! Surely he could’ve worn something a little less formal?”
Another chimed in: “I’d be fuming wearing a suit and tie in 30 degrees, poor kid.”
And someone summed it up by saying: “Poor kids probably boiling – normal kids are playing in paddling pools and eating ice cream not sat around in full suits having to be perfectly behaved whilst everyone stares at them.”
