Taylor Hawkins had been the drummer for the Foo Fighters for 25 years when he died suddenly in 2022. It came as a real shock to everybody, including the band and all of the fans who loved their music.
In order to pay tribute to Taylor Hawkins, the Foo Fighters came together with their fans to put on two special concerts. They were done in his memory, and one of the events took place in Los Angeles with the other taking place in London.
It wasn’t just fans who were on hand to hear the music that day, there were plenty of other musicians and friends of the bands that were there to listen as well. In fact, they weren’t just there to listen, they were going to become part of the memory.
The Los Angeles Concert was in the Kia forum, and it had a special guest star that people probably weren’t expecting. On that day, Dave Grohl introduced a part of the show that was ‘the part where all of Taylor’s good friends come up and play.’ They then launched into the Foo Fighter’s hit, The Pretender.
Dave was up there getting ready to sing when Pink walked out on stage to join him. She was good friends with Taylor, and she wanted to be there to show just how much she missed her friend.
Most of us are accustomed to hearing Pink sing her pop songs, but the fact the matter is, that she has a wide range and is an amazing singer, not only for pop music but for rock ‘n’ roll as well. In considering the vocals that were part of the song, she really stepped up to the plate in an amazing way.
In addition to Pink and the Foo Fighters, there were a number of others who were there to pay tribute to him as well. In London, some of the additional singers included Liam Gallagher, Paul McCartney, Brian Johnson, John Paul Jones, and Lars Ulrich. In LA, some of the additional musicians were Joan Jett, Brad Wilk, and Nancy Wilson.
