A photo of Scott Disick and his daughter started a pretty big argument online and it picked up attention fast. People reacted right away and a lot of them felt the picture crossed a line even though others thought it was nothing at all.
He shares three kids with his ex, Kourtney Kardashian, and even though they split years ago, they are still around each other because of the kids. In an interview, she once said: “Scott and I, we’re going to be in each other’s lives forever. We are soulmates, in a sense. No matter what, whether we’re ever together or not.” They have had a complicated past but they mostly co parent without too much drama now.
Scott has been in the spotlight for years because of the shows and his social media following is huge. So when he posts a picture, it usually gets attention whether he wants it or not.
The picture showed him sitting with his daughter at a restaurant, and she was making a face by pulling her eyelids up while they posed. People jumped on that right away and a few of them said it looked like she was doing the Asian slant eyes gesture, and they tied it to the fact that they were eating at an Asian place. That only added fuel for the people who were mad.
One person said: “It’s a parent’s responsibility to teach a kid to do the right thing.”
Another person said: “All that wealth, you’d think some would go towards education on ignorance and cultural sensitivity.”
And someone else wrote: “Ignorance at its finest.”
Some fans pushed back and said people were making too much out of a kid being silly. One of them said: “You people are disgusting talking about a child being racist because she made a funny face?”
Another said: “How is that racist? I see a little child making a silly face.” And there was even someone who said: “I’m Chinese. If you mock Asian eyes, you pull OUT not UP.”
There has been a lot of debate in the comments, and it sort of shows how fast things get interpreted online. So the picture kept spreading, and people kept arguing over whether it was hurtful or just an innocent snapshot between a dad and his daughter.
