Marching Band Stuns With Michael Jackson Tribute

Ohio State’s marching band pulled off a halftime show that people are still talking about. It was meant as a tribute to Michael Jackson and it turned into one of their most impressive performances ever.

The band has always had a reputation for doing big productions but this one went even further. They opened with a nod to Thriller and shaped themselves into the letters M and J, which was Michael’s logo.

From there they kept moving through his biggest hits and played songs from the Bad album to mark its 25th anniversary. You could tell the whole performance was built to honor the King of Pop and the energy in the stadium kept building.

The music lineup included “Bad”, “The Man In The Mirror”, and “The Way You Make Me Feel”. The band was on point with both the music and the choreography and even Iowa fans were cheering for the Buckeyes. That kind of reaction says a lot when you have rival fans clapping along and shouting for the other team’s band.

At about four and a half minutes they hit the moment that made the whole place explode. While they played “Billie Jean” the band created a massive figure of Michael Jackson with the white glove clearly visible. Then in perfect motion they made that figure moonwalk across the field.

The roar from the crowd was deafening and it felt like everybody understood how hard it is to pull off such a performance. Watch the moment in the video below:
