London Chip Shop Owner Ignores Local Council And Vows To Keep Union Jack Mural

More than likely, you’ve never heard of Chris Kainzi, but he is somebody worth knowing. He lives in London and owns a fish and chip shop, which many of us consider to be a very delicious treat.

His shop is named Golden Chippy and he owns the shop in Greenwich. If you stand outside of his shop, the first thing that you will notice is a large picture of a fish painted onto a wall. Behind it is the Union Jack, and the words “A Great British Meal.”

That painting has become a very noticeable part of the neighborhood but he isn’t about to make any changes. Those changes are necessary because the Royal Borough of Greenwich said that he painted the mural without permission and it was near a world heritage site.

They are demanding that he remove the mural but he doesn’t have any plans to do so. He’s also getting some legal advice that may weigh in on the situation.

He said that he painted the mural after the Council asked him to remove an 18 foot hoarding above the shop door. It was very similar to the one that is painted on the wall.

It will be interesting to see where this one goes from here.
