When many of us look at celebrities that we’ve known for years, we tend to think of them in terms of them being younger. Perhaps we remember the movies that we enjoyed and it just seems as if they are frozen in time.
That is how many of us see Barbra Streisand because we remember her and all of the things that she has done over the years. Regardless of whether it is her musical career or her abilities to perform as an actress, she has kept us entertained for quite some time.
It’s difficult to believe that Barbra Streisand is now in her 80s. She is still going strong, however, and has even recently been honored with the Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Woman of Leadership Award. That award is provided annually to women who are leaders and work for positive change in the lives of others.
When Streisand was given that award, she expressed how happy she was on social media. She called it a great honor and was happy to follow in the footsteps of some of the greatest women of our time.
Not only was she honored with a prestigious award, she was only the fourth woman to receive it. She is known for being a singer, songwriter, director, and actress, and is now recognized as being an influential voice that is helping for the greater good.
Streisand has also had the privilege of working with a number of charitable projects. She was also the first female composer to win an Academy Award.
Aside from the fact that she is known for all of these great things, she still enjoys some of the similar things in life. This includes spending time with her husband, James Brolin. For the past 25 years, that marriage has been going strong and she was celebrating her anniversary on the same day that she received the prestigious award.
He even spoke out of their marriage, saying that therapy has been a real key to their success. He admits that her marriage can be difficult at times and stopping the little arguments is one of the more difficult things to do. Having a third party listen has helped both of them on many occasions.
They try to balance out their hectic schedules and their busy careers by making time for each other. When they come home in the evening, they quality time together and he even admits that he can’t wait to see her again in the morning.
He also said that most people would be retired at their age but he can’t see them sitting back and doing nothing. Both of them have a lot of plans for projects and they plan on moving forward.
It’s interesting that Streisand has continued to give back to the community in general. They both enjoy successful acting careers and Streisand is even helping him to add music to his films.
Despite the fact that they are busy, they still try and prioritize their family life. She said that is nice just to spend time in the garden and to enjoy spending time with their children.
We know it can’t be difficult to live such a public life, but we appreciate the fact that they are real people and are doing their best.
