Single Father Learns To Braid His Daughter’s Hair And Then Starts A School For Dads

It seems as if the world is changing very quickly and gender roles that existed not all that long ago are now becoming blurred or perhaps even disappearing altogether. There is so much diversity within the family today that sometimes, it can even get a little bit confusing. Stay-at-home dads have replaced stay at home moms and the chores are often shared among married couples.

The single father in this story knows about these roles and how the lines can get blurred within the family arrangement. In fact, he is so familiar with it that he decided to help other single fathers with a very special project. Phil Morgese and his daughter, Emma, live in Daytona Beach, Florida. The project that they started together is called the Daddy Daughter Hair Factory. It is designed to help other fathers in the community who were struggling to do the daughter’s hair.

You would probably be surprised with how successful this program was. After the first class, he continued to teach and even posted the tutorial online. He wanted to expand beyond the Daytona Beach area and help fathers from around the world.

More than 300 dads have been reached by the messages and lessons that he provides. All of the classes are free. He wants selected fathers to know that “even a messy braid is time spent together” and he loves that time with his daughter.

“It’s not about the braid, it’s about the bond.”

Phil has shared a lot of info on hair care and treatments, including what to do when going to sleep, swimming or even styling. He believes that all girls need to reach a bond with their father so he is helping those fathers to reach it as well.

“Fatherhood is evolving, we really need to stay connected with our children,” said Phil. “That’s what’s going to change the world.”
