There are many people who go through life doing the bare minimum. They may do what is expected of them, but they don’t really get the joy of loving what they do and extending themselves to help others. Of course, we realize that there are those who go above and beyond and that is the case with Lindon Beckford. You may not have ever have heard his name before but he has been going above and beyond for more than three decades and what he does is amazing.
Lindon loves his job and it shows in the way that he does it. His job is to transport patients from the operating room back to the room where they will stay temporarily. It’s something that he does every day for work but the amount of joy that he is able to spread to others is inspiring. The patients absolutely love what he does and a simple trip from the operating room is no longer quite as frightening when he is behind the wheel. That is because he has a unique way to get rid of their anxiety.
When he first meets the patient, he greets them with a smile and introduces himself. He says: “My name is Lindon and I’ll be your chauffeur.” He then grabs the opportunity to help them feel better and he does so by singing.
When he sings as he transports them from the operating room, many of the patients break out in tears. He is doing more than just showing that he loves his job, he is showing the patients that they really matter. He began this habit a number of years ago and he is a natural singer. When he found out the patients enjoyed it, he did it regularly.
When Lindon sings to the patients, they feel absolutely special. They are coming from a place that is unfamiliar and uncomfortable and suddenly, they have somebody there by their side who cares for them.
