Driver Stops To Grab Blind Elderly Man Sitting At A Bus Stop And The Entire Thing Is Caught On Video

Living life as a diabetic can be very difficult. Not only do you have to pay attention to your blood sugar levels, there are insulin shots and the potential for serious complications that go along with it as well. Nobody knows this better than Gene Hubbard. He was diagnosed with diabetes and his doctor said that he had a rough road ahead of him. In the end, it was more than just checking his blood sugar, he ended up losing his eyesight.

Gene may be blind but he didn’t want the fact that he couldn’t see to interfere with his life. He has been blind for 20 years and he continues to commute via public transportation to his full-time job every day. He also lives a very independent and healthy lifestyle. Of course, it can be difficult to deal with the world around you when you aren’t able to see, and construction on his usual walking path made things difficult. That is when help came from a most unexpected area.

Gene talked to a local news station about how the route change had left him completely disoriented. He said: “If I don’t have a regular locating point to start from, I may as well be in the middle of the ocean.” That is where Thaddeus Turner came in. He is a young bus driver and he saw that Gene was having problems. Rather than just feeling sorry for him, he jumped right in and did something about it. He stopped the bus, grabbed the keys, and walked Gene to the path.

If it weren’t for Thaddeus’ help, Gene may have had a very difficult time getting home safely. We could all use more people like Thaddeus in the world. His desire to help others and to put his life on hold, if only for a minute, can really make a difference for all of us.

Sometimes, we just need to put aside our busy schedules and make sure that other people are cared for.
