The Bee Gees Sing Beautiful Three Song Medley: ‘Too Much Heaven,’ Heartbreaker,’ and ‘Islands in The Stream’

There’s an old expression in the music business, “Here today, gone tomorrow.” Well, actually, it’s just a common expression, but it really applies to this industry more so than most. The music industry is filled with more “one-hit wonders,” then you can shake a stick at. But, the cold hard truth is that there are even more “no-hit” neverhavebeens who struggled and still struggle year after year to make it in a business that rewards only a select few. Being in love with music can be a miserable existence for an artist, as the case with any form of art. The ability to make it big in the first place is a momentous challenge on its own, but to continue to stay relevant in the music industry is nearly impossible for most artists.

Even the great Elvis Presley found this challenge impossible to beat. However, certain performers and groups do manage to transcend the barrier of time and cultural changes to create hit songs decade after decade. A few that come to mind include Dolly Parton, The Rolling Stones, Elton John, Cher, and of course, the Bee Gees. The band started out in 1955 as a doo-wop band called “The Rattlesnakes” to go on to produce hit songs until 2012 when Robin Gibb passed away, and Barry (the last surviving brother) announced that he would never try to reform the band.  In this video, we see the legendary brothers Barry, Maurice, and Robin Gibb performing at a live show in 2009.
