It can be difficult to be a woman sometimes. When you are out in public, it is almost as if you are fair game and men may try to take advantage of the situation in a very disrespectful way. That is what happened to this female bartender in Arizona. She became a victim of something that is all too familiar to women around the world. A man that was nearby decided that he would touch her inappropriately.
It started when Krystal Olson, a 32-year-old bartender, was working a popular weekend spot in Arizona. A local patron who had been ordering drinks approached her, reached up her skirt and grabbed her in the rear end. This was not only an inappropriate act, it was also a matter of assault. As you can imagine, Olson was extremely upset by what this man did. It is what happens next, however, that is setting the Internet on fire. She put the man in a chokehold, dragged him out of the bar and evicted him for his foul deed.
If that wasn’t enough, the man decided to fight back and he slammed her up against the wall. That is when security at the bar got involved. She ended up subduing the man and calling the police. When he realized he was heading for jail, he began crying publicly.
She posted a picture of his face to her Twitter account. It included this caption: “This guy grabbed my a**, I dragged him out in a chokehold, he slammed me into a wall. And he is crying like a b**** when he got arrested.”
The post instantly went viral. Women from all over gave their condolences and talked about their experiences with these types of predators as well. Olson, who hails from New York, talked about how the security team was amused by her tough nature. In their words, she “went all New York on his a**.”
There were a number of women who commended her for being as aggressive as him.
“If more men got their a**** beat for for harassing/assaulting women they’d learn quickly that a woman’s body belongs to no one but herself,” wrote one commenter, quoting Olsen’s tweet.
“I have three daughters,” wrote one concerned parent. “I hope they do the same.”
“You are awesome and I want my daughter to grow up to be just like you,” offered another user. Many sentiments regarding Olsen’s incident were overwhelmingly supportive.
There were also some who thought that her actions were a little excessive. They were quickly reminded that sexual assault is a severe issue and she had the right to defend herself.
Olsen was unharmed when all was said and done but the man will have a long road ahead of him for living this one down.
