It doesn’t matter who we are, we could all use a little bit of wisdom from time to time. It’s what allows us to take the knowledge that we have and put it to good use. Perhaps we have received some words of wisdom from a close friend, a coworker or it may have been passed down from one generation to another. If it is truly worth its salt, we can take that word of wisdom, apply it in our lives and be much better off for it.
Wisdom can differ from one person to another and there is not always going to be a perfect way to approach any particular subject. In most cases, the rules of conduct that are passed from one person to another are not written as laws but rather, they are more of an ‘unwritten rule’. That being said, we thought it would be a good idea to write them down so here they are in all their glory. Take these the heart and apply them in your life and you will find that your life is better for it.
1. Do not swipe left or right if someone shows you a photo on their phone.
2. Don’t propose at someone else’s wedding.
3. If you’re borrowing it for the third time, you need one of your own.
4. If you have to cancel on a friend, it should be your responsibility to reschedule.
5. Do not heat up fish in the office cafeteria.
6. Do not point out flaws in someone’s physical appearance.
7. Don’t let your friends drink and drive. Call an Uber for them. Do it for other people too.
8. Don’t say, “When are you due?” to women you barely know. They might not even be pregnant.
9. Don’t leave your shopping cart in the middle of a grocery store aisle.
10. If you’re going to listen to music, videos, or anything else on your phone that requires sound and isn’t a phone call, either wait until you get home or invest in some headphones.
11. When driving a car, don’t be nice, be predictable. People being nice leads to a shitload of accidents.
12. Be kind to strangers, because the world is a cruel place, and you never know what others have been through.
13. If someone asks you a question, finish what you’re saying with, “what about you?”
14. Give people their personal space. Not everyone wants to snuggle a stranger.
15. Don’t ask for something if the person only has one left (gum, cigarettes, a piece of cake, etc.).
16. If someone does something that makes them happy and confident, and it doesn’t hurt them or anyone else (animals included), then leave them alone and let them do their thing. Let them be happy.
17. Do I need to say this? Do I need to say this now? Does it have to be me who says that? If you answered, “yes” to all these questions, go ahead, and say it.
18. There are 2 people in your life you NEVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES LIE TO. Your doctor and your lawyer.
19. Buy a plunger before you need a plunger.
20. Do not tell a woman without makeup that she looks tired or sick.
21. If I didn’t ask for your advice, don’t be surprised that I don’t take it seriously.
22. Get vaccinated.
23. Don’t talk about Fight Club.
