There’s a popular vintage graphic on the internet called “My Wife and My Mother-in-Law.” In the image, you can see both a young woman and an older woman. It’s essentially a very clever optical illusion and you have to really shift your entire focus to see both of the women. Optical illusions like this are a lot of fun to try to figure out. Optical illusions occur when the reality is different from what we believe it to be. Basically, our eyes fool us, as the old expression goes. The mind enjoys a challenge and when someone tells us that there’s something about an image that’s different from what can see for ourselves, our interest gets piqued.
