Relive the Iconic Pulp Fiction Dance Scene With Uma Thurman and John Travolta

Quintain Tarintino’s films are some of the most unique and identifiable movies in the industry. There’s a tone, a feeling to a Tarintino film that lets you know almost right away that he’s behind the camera. It sometimes feels like his films are all a part of the same movie. And this familiarity is one of the things that fans like myself love about his films. However, at the same time, there are folks who absolutely can not stand his movies — mainly due to some controversial factors such as sex, violence, drug use, and other politically-incorrect concepts. But for those of us who are fans, we wouldn’t have his movies any other way.

While die-hard fans often cite his first film, “Reservoir Dogs,” as being the movie that launched his career. The truth is that we all know it was 1994’s “Pulp Fiction” that turned him into one of the hottest Hollywood directors almost overnight. And here are an interesting fact you may not know about Pulp Fiction. When it comes to adult language, this film is chalked full of vitamin “F-word,” with exactly 265 F-bombs sprinkled within the characters’ dialog. Aside from the iconic lines, there’s one scene that stands out in every fan’s mind, which doesn’t involve a lot of talking, and that’s the famous dance scene between Uma Thruman and John Travolta’s characters.

The scene begins with Thruman’s character, Mia Wallace, sitting in a 50s-style restaurant discussing an incident involving her husband, Marsellus Wallace (played by Ving Rhames), in which he threw a man out of a fourth-story window, with Vincent Vega (played by Travolta). As the two are discussing the merits of her husband’s reaction, a man announces on the dance floor the start of their annual Twist dancing competition and asks who will be the first couple to compete for their grand prize trophy. Without hesitation, Mia raises her hand, and as Vincent protests, she reminds him that her husband instructed him to take her out and do whatever she wanted. She added, “And now, I want to dance, I want to win; I want that trophy.” And with that, began one of the coolest dance scenes in movie history.
