If you had to name a Beatles song, what would it be? I think that all of us would probably name at least one if not a dozen of those songs that we enjoy. Even though the music was recorded many decades ago, it is still something that we can sing word for word down to this day. After all, it was a music that was so beloved that it continues to be popular, many years after the Beatles stopped performing as a group. Every once in a while, we have the opportunity to see some of the Beatles performing and that is what happened in this show, that surely was a real treat for anyone in the audience that day.
It happened at the Buckingham palace garden in London England about 18 years ago. The date was June 3, 2002, and it was a concert that will live on in the memory of everyone who saw it that day. After all, it was a performance by Paul McCartney and that, on its own, is a memorable thing. Amazingly, he was joined on stage by some other performers and the combination of all of them shortly had the audience on their feet in a hurry. The four performers that were singing together that day included Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, Rod Stewart, and Joe Cocker. What a powerhouse of performers and they were all doing their best for everyone in attendance.
The song that was selected that day was an old Beatles tune, ‘All You Need Is Love’. It’s a song I’m sure is on the list of favorites for many people, including those who never had the opportunity to hear or see the Beatles performing live. It is a song that continues to play on the radio many decades after it was first performed and I have no doubt that it will continue to play for many years to come.
Every singer has something unique that they offer to their fans. Perhaps it is a different type of voice or maybe a performance style that really makes them stand out. All four of these performers had something unique to offer but they blended together so nicely that you can tell why everyone in the audience was so appreciative.
