Morgan Freeman Just Turned 84 and He’s Still a Legend

There are actors in the world who become living legends and one of those is the legendary performer Morgan Freeman. Freeman is a national treasure and seems to have an endless well of youthfulness and vitality. In fact, it’s impossible to realize that he’s actually 84 years old. That’s right, on June 1st, Freeman turned 84. The star of dozens of movies, Freeman won a Best Supporting Actor Academy Award in 2005 for his role in “Million Dollar Baby.” moreover, he received Oscar nominations for “Shawshank Redemption,” “Street Smart,” and “Invictus.” To say that he has had a stellar career is an understatement at best.

In addition to his Academy Award nominations and awards, Freeman has also received a Screen Actors Guild Award and a Golden Globe Award. Interestingly, Freeman got his start on the hugely popular children’s program “The Electric Company” in the 1970s. He has also had roles in tons of other box office hits, including “Seven,” “Glory,” “Deep Impact,” “Bruce Almighty,” “Wanted,” and many more. Since he has a wonderfully deep voice, Freeman has also served as a popular commentator, voice actor, and narrator. However, in spite of all of his acting success, Freeman got his start as a dancer.

In the early 1960s, he worked as a dancer at the 1964 World’s Fair. He was also in a musical theater group called San Francisco’s Opera Ring. An early acting role was one with a touring company in “The Royal Hunt of the Sun.” He also appeared as an extra in a popular 1965 movie, “The Pawnbroker.” However, before doing all of this, Mr. Freeman served his country as an airman in the U.S. Air Force. He also acted in a soap opera, “Another World.”
