Legendary Phil Collins Makes Devastating Announcement About His Career and Future

Phil Collins is a living legend and few will ever aspire to his brand of greatness. However, his career has taken a huge hit because of his deteriorating health conditions. Specifically, Phil says that he “can barely hold a drumstick” and he won’t be playing the drums anymore. He is only 70 years old, but people age differently and he is struggling. Not everyone can be a Mick Jagger, who seems to defy age. Now, Phil’s son Nic is the drummer for Genesis. Nic is 20 years old and an excellent drummer in his own right. In an interview with BBC Breakfast, Phil discussed the upcoming reunion tour for Genesis and he revealed that Nic would be handling the drums.

With a wistful note in his voice, the great man said that he would love to be drumming, but he just can’t. He further explained that there are physical things that “get in the way” and added that he is physically challenged and that’s frustrating. However, he wishes he could be up there on the stage playing with his son. Nevertheless, Phil will still be providing the vocals for the band. Also, he says that he’s not even sure he wants to be out on the road (on tour) anymore. It’s a lot to take on and it’s not like he’s hurting for money, after all. He’s worth about $300 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

In 2015, Phil had back surgery after falling on stage and the surgery left him with nerve damage. Two years later, he started needing to walk with a cane after a fall. Collins has been married three times and divorced all of his wives. Nicholas is Phil’s son with his third wife, Orianne Cevey, a Swiss woman who once worked as a translator for him.
