There have been many talented singers that have crossed our paths over the years. I’m sure that you can probably name quite a few of them yourself and when you stop to look at your list, you might recognize that not all of them were performers from the time when we were alive. In fact, there are many performers who passed away many years ago but they still have an influence on music in a very profound way. One of those individuals is Elvis Presley and it doesn’t matter if you are old or young, you are likely to remember him and the contribution he gave to all of us with his music.
When you think about Elvis Presley’s music, what is the first song that comes to your mind? Like many people, you might think of one of his old rock ‘n’ roll classics, such as ‘Jailhouse Rock’, or ‘Blue Suede Shoes’. Although those are very popular songs and they certainly have their place in music history, there is another one of his songs that was inspirational to all who heard it. It was a 1969 song recorded by Elvis Pressley, although it was written by Mac Davis. The name of the song was ‘In the Ghetto’.
Like many of Elvis Presley’s songs, he did not write In the Ghetto, although he really made it his own with the way that he sang it and with his unique performances. It might even come as a surprise to you that Elvis Presley sang some 600 songs that were attributed to him but he never wrote a single one of those songs. The only reason why he was given partial credit for any of the songs was because it was a stipulation of his record label.
It really doesn’t matter if Elvis Presley wrote In the Ghetto or not, it is one of his most famous songs and people still recognize that he performed it down till this day. When it comes to musical talent, it’s difficult to beat what Elvis Pressley brought to the table but by continuing to enjoy his music, you are allowing his influence to live on, even though he is gone.
