If you’re over 25, keeping up with all the latest apps and social media sites may be a bit of a challenge. I still remember the days when no one has a clue what “social media was outside of AOL, Yahoo Chat, and MySpace. Now, as soon as all the adults get used to Facebook and Twitter, the kids are off Instagramming, Whatsapping, TikToking, and God knows what else these days. For those who are not familiar with the TikTok platform, it’s basically a network of amateur music videos that’s been around since 2009. The videos are up to 15 seconds long. However, users can string together multiple videos to create a “story” up to 60 seconds long.
Now, if you’re thinking about how short our attention spans must be getting, you’re not alone! But, truth be told, a lot of the videos are pretty entertaining. And one woman who sits atop the TikTop mountain is Charli D’Amelo, also known as the Queen of TikTok. Charli has over 32 million followers, and you can’t even open the app without seeing her smiling at you! Charli has been a competitive dancer for over ten years but only started her TikTok account back in July of 2019! In her videos, Charli shows off all the most popular viral dances out there in a way that makes it easy for her fans to pick up the moves. In this video, Charli visits the Tonight Show to show Jimmy Fallon some of the latest TikTok dances.
As Jimmy stands by her holding up signs naming the different dances, Charli jumps into action. As he changes signs, she seamlessly flows into another dance. The skit’s set up like a TikTok video with each dance lasting about 15 seconds. We see dances her perform dances such as the “Don’t Start Now,” “Say So,” “Get Up,” The Git Up,” “Spooky Scary,” and many more.
Watch Charli D’Amelio teaching Jimmy some new tricks in this groovy video.
