Opera singer Andrea Bocelli is a living legend. Not only does he sing opera, but he also sings pop music and is a record producer. The famous diva Celine Dion once said that if God has a singing voice, he “must sound like Andrea Bocelli.” We have to agree with her. Bocelli’s voice is absolutely soul-stirring. Legendary record producer David Foster, who has worked with the likes of Madonna and Barbara Streisand, has sometimes described Bocelli’s voice as the most beautiful voice in the world. She was once married to the incomparable Andrew Lloyd Webber, a fact that many people don’t know. Her career first began when she was a member of Hot Gossip, a popular dance troupe. She then released solo pieces that included several disco singles. She has starred in multiple Broadway musicals, including “Cats” and “The Phantom of the Opera,” where she was the first person to play the role of Christine Daae. Eventually, Brightman retired and divorced her husband, at which point she resumed her music career. For this stage of her life, she wanted to be a classical crossover artist. This is a genre for which she is credited as the creator. That in itself is a huge accomplishment.

“Con te partirò,” known in English as “Time to Say Goodbye,” is an Italian song that was written by Lucio Quarantotto and Francesco Sartori. First performed by Andrea Bocelli at the Sanremo Music Festival, Bocelli then recorded it on his album “Bocelli” later that year. In 1996, a second version of the song was released, this time sung partly in English. In this version, Bocelli teamed up with Sarah Brightman to deliver an unbelievably intense and beautiful duet.
