Adele is a name now known across the globe as she’s recognized as one of the most talented artists in music history. Her debut album was certified platinum eight times over in the U.K and in the U.S three times platinum. Adele did not have the easiest of upbringings, as a young girl, she grew up being raised by a single mom after her father abandoned their family. However, ever since she was four, Adele had been obsessed with voices. Adele notes that is when she began singing. Her mom decided to move them down to a town located on the southern coast of England called Brighton when Adele was nine years old. It was in this town that she refined her musical skills, practicing her singing in front of friends while performing in Brockwell Park in London.
After years of hard work, Adele has become one of the most decorated singers of any generation. By 2020, she had earned a total of 15 Grammy Awards and even won an Academy Award back in 2013 for her song that was featured in the James Bond film “Skyfall.” She’s also won three Ivor Novello Awards, a Golden Globe Award, and many more. And she’s only 31! In this video from 2011, we see Adele give an exceptional performance of “Someone Like You.”
When addressing the audience, she explains how the song “changed” her life. She notes that every time she performs “Someone Like You,” it changes a little piece of her. She even jokes about her new album and the bitter breakup that inspired it. We get to see a very human side of the singer as she shares a very personal part of her life.
