Recently, a woman was criticized because she wouldn’t switch seats with a toddler who was crying next to her on a flight. That woman is now suing the airline and the passenger who took the video that went viral.
When Jennifer Castro was on a flight from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, she had booked a window seat. According to reports, the child had a window seat in a different row but began throwing a fit when they wanted the seat assigned to Castro.
The 29-year-old bank worker from Brazil decided that she was going to keep her assigned seat. The mother was not very happy about it, and decided that she would take a video of the exchange and give Castro a hard time.

You can hear the mother saying in the video: “Why doesn’t she want to change seats? I even asked if she has some kind of syndrome or something. If someone has a problem, some disability, we understand.
“I’m recording your face, this is disgusting. It’s the 21st century and people have no empathy for children.”
Despite being berated by the mother, Castro stayed calm and asked if she was being recorded. She indeed was being recorded and the video was uploaded to TikTok, where it went viral.
Once it was on TikTok, people started standing behind Castro and telling her that she did the right thing. Many thought that her calm demeanor was an example that they could follow.
Castro appeared on a podcast and said that she is planning on taking legal action against the passenger who filmed her and the airline. She said: “Measures are now being taken. What I went through wasn’t easy. The flight attendants could have asked me if I needed anything, or if I was bothered by the passenger, but they didn’t. They stayed out of it.”
She spoke about the flight, saying that when she got on the plane the child was sitting in her seat. She told him it was her seat and waited for him to leave.
A man in a seat across the aisle asked her to change with the child, saying that she could sit next to the aisle and he would have her place. She disagreed, and the boy cried for the entire flight of about 50 minutes. She also said the mother was rude.
Despite the fact that she has faced some haters online, she is happy that people have given her support. In the end, she said she is just trying to process everything.
