Peter Gustin is a voice actor and social media star who’s never allowed his visual impairment to stop him from pursuing his dreams.

Along with working off and on-screen as an actor, Gustin also loves skateboarding, surfing, and wakeboarding.
And while Gustin is well known for his 1.29 YouTube subscribers, many don’t recognize him in his daily life, as evidenced by his recent experience at his gym.

Gustin talked about the incident in a TikTok video that went viral a few months ago. In the video, the actor recalled how a woman in his gym accused him of predatory behavior because she believed he was gawking at her.

He began the video by explaining:
“I’m blind. If you know what those two words mean, then you’re much smarter than the girl who was screaming at me at the gym.”

“I’m standing there doing a tricep pushdown exercise and since I can’t see I’m just kind of staring off into space doing my thing. Half-way through a set I start hearing footsteps that seem like they’re coming in my direction getting closer and closer,” Gustin described.
“Until all of a sudden, this woman is right up in my face going ‘I didn’t come here to be stared at’,” he recalled.

The voice actor attempted to explain himself, saying:
“‘Ohhhh, I’m sorry, I’m blind’.”
While in the minds of most rational adults, those words alone would serve as a sufficient explanation, the woman replied by saying she did not care and once again asked him to stop staring at her.

After rating Gustin a bit more, the woman stormed off, returning shortly with the gym manager.

Even after Gustin showed the manager his ID card, confirming that he was blind, the manager took the woman’s side. According to the voice actor, the manager told him:
“Okay, but you still can’t make other gym members uncomfortable by looking at them.”

Beyond baffled, Gustin shared his story in a TikTok video titled “I was not staring at you. I promise,” which has since gained over 18 million views.

Meanwhile, many viewers found Gustin’s bizarre tale hilarious, while others were more concerned with figuring out why his voice sounded so familiar. The voice actor has worked on Fox News, CBS, ESPN, Cartoon Network, NFL, Fox, Major League Baseball, and Comedy Central projects.
