Vogue Mocks The First Lady’s Photo And Reignites An Old Feud

One of the things that any first lady does when she goes into the White House is to pose for an official portrait. Melania Trump has also done so, but not everybody is happy with the picture.

Vogue magazine has taken aim at the First Lady and claims that the official portrait is tacky. In an editorial, Anna Wintour’s fashion mag wrote: “Indeed, Trump looked more like she was guest starring on an episode of The Apprentice than assuming the role of first lady of the United States.”

Vogue also chimed in, saying: “The choice to wear a tuxedo — as opposed to a blazer or blouse — made Trump look more like a freelance magician than a public servant. It’s perhaps unsurprising that a woman who lived in a gold-encrusted penthouse, whose fame is so intertwined with a reality-television empire, would refuse to abandon theatrics — even when faced with 248 years of tradition.”

This isn’t the first time that Vogue has come up against Melania. Before she met Donald Trump in 1998, she was doing some modeling work. When Donald Trump was elected in 2016, she didn’t appear in Vogue magazine, as did many other first ladies.

In 2018, she was recorded voicing her disappointment when Beyoncé was given creative control over the September issue cover story. She also complained about porn star Stormy Daniels, who allegedly had an affair with Donald Trump before he was elected president. She also appeared in Vogue in 2018.

Melania said: “I don’t give a f*** about Vogue.”

In 2024, Jill Biden was featured in the Vogue cover story that came out just before her husband withdrew from the presidential race. It was the third time that she was on the magazine cover. Michelle Obama was also on the cover three times while her husband was in office.

In 2005, Melania was photographed for the magazine as “Donald Trump’s New Bride.” This is when she was still a reality TV star and she wore a $200,000 Christian Dior wedding gown.
