Vintage Video Of The Monkees’ Classic, ‘I’m A Believer’

There are some singers that may not have been around for many years but the legacy that they left behind with their music is going to live on for many years after they are gone. One of the musical groups that fall into that category was around in the 60s, but you don’t have to be a person of the 60s in order to recognize their music and perhaps even be able to sing along with it. I’m talking about The Monkees, and they did much for music back in their time.

One of the iconic songs that were performed by The Monkees was not actually one of their creations. In fact, it was originally written and recorded by Neil Diamond back in 1966. I’m talking about the song, ‘I’m a Believer’. Although Neil Diamond probably did a good job of performing the song, it wasn’t famous when he sang it. In fact, it didn’t really gain steam until the Monkees performed it. They were a boy band from the 60s and, although they weren’t known as a boy band, they were perhaps one of the first in existence. That popular hit really propelled them into superstardom.

The Monkees were part of what was known as the British invasion. It seemed as if the United States was interested in everything having to do with the British, and that was especially true when it came to actors and musicians. If you look at some of the old TV shows from the 1960s, they always had the American child that spoke with a British accent. The Beatles were also a very popular group at the time.

The Monkees may not be playing to audiences of thousands of people any longer, but their music still has an influence over those who choose to listen to it.
