When it comes to musical performances, I’m sure that all of us have at least one that we would consider to be above and beyond. Let’s face it, we grow accustomed to hearing the music playing on the radio or on our digital equipment and when we actually see the person or group in the concert, it is something different than what we are accustomed to hearing. Sometimes it is different in a good way and it other times, it disappoints us deeply. Every once in awhile, however, there is a performer that goes above and beyond in their live performances and one of those people was Dolly Parton.
I’m sure that you have heard your fair share of Dolly Parton music. She has been around the music scene for decades and has been thrilling audiences, as well as those who listened at home for many years. One thing about Dolly Parton is that her performance is on stage are flawless. They aren’t exactly like the music that she plays on the radio but she is a truly talented individual that can give us goosebumps, even when she is having a bad day. On the day that she gave this performance, she was on the top of her game and it’s easy to see why we love it so much.
Dolly Parton has had her fair share of famous songs over the years but her most famous song is undoubtedly Jolene. There has been some controversy over where the song came from, although she tells a story or two about it from time to time. It’s an amazing song to hear because it makes us want to sing along and when we hear Dolly Parton in concert, it’s even better.
This concert from 1974 shows just how dedicated Dolly Parton is to her craft. Amazingly, she is not only the singer of this song, it is also on the list of the greatest songs of all time according to Rolling Stone Magazine, and I could listen to it over and over again.
