When it comes to our favorite singer, most of us have our own opinion but we often feel just as strongly, regardless of who it happens to be. Perhaps you enjoy a pop singer that is trending and you may even switch from one singer to another as they continue to come out with new music. Then again, you may enjoy listening to a singer that has been around for a very long time and may even be ready for retirement, although it seems that none of them want to retire from the spotlight.
Every once in a while, there is a singer who really shows they are more than a trendy musician, they are someone who stands the test of time. Although there may be a number of musicians who fall into that category, one that is certainly worth mentioning is Elvis Presley. Even though he has been gone for a number of decades, his music continues to be played on the radio and most people, even young people, recognize his voice and can sing along with his music. It’s absolutely incredible how much of an influence he has had on the music world and on us as individuals.
Elvis sang many different types of music. Some of his music was popular during the day but he also sang some that are still played on country music stations and he sang some gospel music as well. One of his gospel songs, which was part of his second gospel album was ‘How Great Thou Art’. It’s a song that is recognizable to many of us and in 1968, it even went certified gold.
The song didn’t stop with its popularity in 1968, it went on to continue its march toward the top and went platinum and double-platinum in 1992 and eventually, hit triple platinum in 2010. Perhaps what is most amazing is that the song continued to grow in popularity, even after Elvis had passed away. You have the opportunity to see him singing the song in the video below and to see how impressive of a performer he was:
