We often get to hear the reaction of people on social media after a big news event takes place. Following the meeting between Presidents Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelenskyy, there is no shortage of opinions.
Just to get you up to speed in case you missed it, Zelenskyy was at the Oval Office for a discussion with Donald Trump and the conversation did not go well. They ended up having some he did works with each other, after which the Ukraine president left.
I one point in the argument, Trump gave Zelenskyy a hard time for interrupting him. He said: “What you’re doing is very disrespectful to the country, this country that’s backed you far more than a lot of people say they should.
You have to be thankful. You don’t have the cards. You’re buried there. Your people are dying. You’re running low on soldiers.
“Listen, you’re running low on soldiers. It would be a damn good thing… Then you tell us, I don’t want a ceasefire. I don’t want to ceasefire. I want to go and I want this.”
Trump then finished things up, saying: “You’re either gonna make a deal or we’re out. And if we’re out, you’ll fight it out.”
The vice president fans also was critical of the Ukraine president, saying: “Mr. President, Mr. President, with respect. I think it’s disrespectful for you to come to the Oval Office to try to litigate this in front of the American media.”
After the meeting was over, Trump went on his Truth Social platform and said that the Ukraine president was ‘not ready for Peace if America is involved.’
Trump also said that the discussion was ‘very meaningful.’ He added: “Much was learned that could never be understood without conversation under such fire and pressure.
“I don’t want advantage, I want peace. He disrespected the United States of America in its cherished Oval Office. He can come back when he is ready for Peace.”
As you can imagine, there was a lot to be said on social media but some of the focus was put on Ukraine’s ambassador to the United States, Oksana Markarova.
You can see Markarova watching everything unfold in front of her as it happened. She then put her head in her hand, almost as if she was having a difficult time processing it.

There are a number of opinions on the reaction, including some who feel that she was siding with Trump and others who feel that she was siding with her own president.
Some comments felt that she saw it as disrespect for her country while Zelensky stayed calm. Others said that it’s good that the rest of the world is seeing what a disaster Trump is.
On the other hand, a Trump supporter said that Zelenskyy ‘won’t last a week’ without the backing of the president of the United States. Others said that she was frustrated that her president blew a chance for peace and she knew it.
It will be interesting to see where this one goes.
