Turning Point USA Sparks Super Bowl Halftime Uproar

Turning Point USA announced it will stream an alternative Super Bowl halftime show, a move that immediately drew backlash. The group said it is offering a separate broadcast during the game on Sunday, February 8, positioning it as an option for viewers unhappy with the official performance.

The Super Bowl will feature Bad Bunny at halftime, drawing criticism from some on the right over language and culture. In an interview, the President dismissed the artist, saying, “I’ve never heard of him. I don’t know who he is. I don’t know why they’re doing it. It’s, like, crazy.”

The administration has faced backlash over ICE brutality, including two reported deaths, which artists addressed publicly. During his Grammys acceptance, Bad Bunny spoke out, saying, “Before I say thanks to God, I’m going to say ICE out.” Critics targeting him as a performer were reminded he is an American citizen.

The President said he will not attend the game, citing the performers, Bad Bunny and Green Day. “I’m anti-them,” he said. “I think it’s a terrible choice. All it does is sow hatred. Terrible.” A spokesperson added he is focused on work and would receive a welcome if he went.

TPUSA announced it will broadcast an ‘All American’ halftime show as an alternative, and reactions split. Some mocked the outrage, with one saying, “Y’all are soooo mad about Spanish music being performed it’s HYSTERICAL.” Others questioned the backlash, pointing out Puerto Rico’s status and criticizing the tone of the debate.

The lineup for the alternative show includes Kid Rock, Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice and Gabby Barrett. Even some supporters expressed disappointment, with one saying, “I’ll be watching but I am disappointed in this lineup. Going to struggle getting Gen Z to care,” while another criticized the marketing and promotion.
