Trump Makes Young Child With Cancer An Honorary Secret Service Agent

A lot of things were said when Donald Trump gave his current speech to Congress on March 4. The 78-year-old president spoke on some issues that were controversial, but he also recognized the young child in a special way.

13-year-old Devarjaye “DJ” Daniel was in attendance for the speech and he heard everything Donald Trump said. DJ had been diagnosed with brain cancer in 2018 and back then, he was only given five months to live.

As DJ sat in that House gallery wearing a police officer’s uniform, he had the biggest smile on his face. That is especially true when Donald Trump shared his inspiring story and his father lifted him in the air.

Trump said: “He has always dreamed of becoming a police officer. But in 2018, DJ was diagnosed with brain cancer. That was more than six years ago. Since that time, DJ and his dad have been on a quest to make his dream come true.”

A number of law enforcement agencies have recognized DJ over the years. The president also recognized him and spoke about his resilience.

The president continued: “And tonight, DJ, we’re going to do you the biggest honor of them all. I am asking our new Secret Service director, Sean Curran, to officially make you an agent of the United States.”

At that point, people in the House chamber began chanting his name and Curran stepped in to hand him something that appeared to be Secret Service credentials.

DJ was overcome by emotion and waived it for the crowd proudly. His father lifted him back up again and then he put his arms around Curran for a hug.

After this, Trump began to praise law enforcement and spoke about his stance on crime. This included calling for a ‘mandatory death penalty for anyone who murders a police officer.’ He felt this was important because officers should be able to ‘do their job without fear of their lives being totally destroyed.’
