As parents, we try to do what is best for our children but there are also times when parents make decisions that may not be the best. Now that we live in a world that is so socially connected, these small issues can become big issues.
One of the biggest decisions that a new parent has to make is what they will name the young child. Most parents have at least some idea of what to name them, and those names are sometimes not the best idea.
Of course, we realize that every parent has the right to name their child as they wish, as long as it is not against local laws and regulations. If you are going to name your child something unusual, however, you can expect at least a little feedback when you post it on social media.
This recently happened with a well-known influencer, Abby Howard. In speaking on a podcast with her husband, Matt, they said that baby names are now ‘out of control.’ The two of them were talking about unique baby names and they said that they were not only out of control, they called them ‘ridiculous.
Although they never mentioned mommy influencer Liana Jade’s son, it did start to gain some traction in the comment section. They gave their son the name Koazy, which is pronounced the same as ‘Cozy.’
The couple in the podcast said that it was a huge red flag to give your child a name such as that. They even said that if you give a name that doesn’t already exist, it is not ‘the flex you think it is.’
Although Koazy was not mentioned by name, he did manage to make it into the comment section. Several people started talking about that name and referred to it as ‘off-the-wall.’ It wasn’t long before the mother heard about the discussion taking place and the name of her son being torn apart online. That is when she went on TikTok to post a response.
I think we’ve all heard or perhaps even used the term ‘ugly crying’ in the past and I believe that fits the video quite well. She is absolutely losing it as she shares the story about her son’s unique name.
She said: “Basically, our baby is called Koazy.
“I know it’s not everybody’s cup of tea. But people have kind of pulled it out of context saying we’ve called him Koazy because he was cozy in the womb. No. It was a name we already had.
“And as I was getting so heavily pregnant, people were saying oh he’s cozy in your belly. And it kind of confirmed for us. It was a ‘meant-to-be’ kind of thing. Wasn’t trying to name him anything for a flex.”

The mother also talked about how she felt as people tore apart the name of her son.
“I knew everyone wasn’t going to love the name. So I’m not going to sit here defending it. It’s just different when there’s a comment section open on such a big influencer’s video. Of people, fully grown adults, slandering my baby’s name. I think it’s quite cruel.”
She also understands the responsibility of being an influencer, and called out Matt and Abby for not being ‘mindful of who was being named and how that could have an effect on other people.’
It doesn’t appear as if Matt and Abby have addressed the situation directly but the comment section has been closed on the post.
