This ‘Worthless’ Metal Accordion Was Found At A Thrift Store And They Didn’t Know What It Was

Most families tend to eat on their own or perhaps they may be together, but they eat in front of the television set. It’s simply the reality we live in today, but it wasn’t always that way.

In the past, families would gather together to eat a meal every day if not more than one time per day. We would also have friends over regularly or large family gatherings, and we wanted everything to be perfect.

That is where this unique item came into play. It’s from a time gone by, but it is still something that reminds us of where we came from.

When it was found in a thrift store, they had no idea what it was. It was printed with ‘Made in Italy’ so they thought that it had some worth. As it turns out, its worth is in its history.

It was a vintage casserole caddy Trivet, an item that was often used during dinner. When hot dishes were brought to the table, they could be stored on the casserole caddy rather than sitting right on the tabletop.

The wireframe structure of this expandable item made it able to hold almost any size of casserole dish. It also added a little bit of style to the table, making the meal even more enjoyable.

Although this item is largely lost to history, it really tells us about a time when people would gather together and talk at a meal. Its purpose was primarily to hold items to keep them from being directly on the stove or tabletop. It was also something that fostered communication. After all, you can’t help but talk when you are sitting around eating a nice meal.
