July 22, 2024, was a big year for the royal family. Prince George turned a year older, but there was more to the celebration than just a birthday party. He was growing towards his eventual future in the British monarchy.
On Prince George’s 11th birthday, the royal family celebrated. The Prince and Princess of Wales also shared the day with others by posting a black and white picture of the Prince. It was captioned: “Wishing Prince George a very happy 11th birthday today!”
Now that he has reached such an important age, people are looking forward to someday having him possibly be king. There are also many who came to the comments to wish him a happy birthday.
Along with wishing him a great day, there were others who were happy that the Prince and Princess of Wales chose that particular picture of their son. They said that it had a resemblance to his grandmother, Princess Diana. Others said that he has grown very fast.
At this point, Prince George is second in line to the British throne behind his father, Prince William. The 11th birthday occurred as his grandfather, King Charles III was dealing with a cancer diagnosis. In addition, Princess Kate was diagnosed with cancer in March 2024.
Questions have come up as to the line of succession if unfortunate events occur that left Prince George at the head of the monarchy before 18. There is the Regency Act of 1937 in place in case something like this occurs.
According to that act, Prince George would act in Regency until the successor reached the required age of 18. Since he is in line for the role, they are already preparing him for the possibility that he would have to accept royal duties.
