There are certain aspects to almost any movie that you watch and they tend to go along with the dialogue so perfectly that you may not even realize they exist. One of the most important parts of any movie is not necessarily the acting or even the script, it is the music that is playing in the background. Without that music, the movie would lose a lot of its appeal. Just try to imagine a scary scene where somebody is being chased by an unseen pursuer but there is not that ominous music playing in the background. It wouldn’t be as frightening.
There are also songs that typically play in most movies and they signal a turning point. Some people call them the ‘movie song’ and within a few minutes while the song is playing, everything turns around and the movie goes in an entirely different direction. If you pay attention to almost any movie that you watch, you will see that it exists and those are the songs that often become the most recognizable part of the movie. Not only do they play when we watch the movie, they sometimes play on the radio as well.
What if I were to say the names Bette Midler, Goldie Hahn and Diane Keaton to you? Would you instantly think about the movie, First Wives Club? It is perhaps one of the more epic movies from its time and both men and women have enjoyed watching it and continue to enjoy watching it over and over again.
The movie song from First Wives Club is also one that is perhaps the most epic. It is ‘You Don’t Own Me’ and it’s amazing to watch those three ladies singing it and all that is going on during the music. It also has the ability to stick in your head, which really isn’t a bad thing with such an awesome song. If you haven’t heard it in a while, then you can hear it below in the video along with watching the scene from the movie:
