The Top Baby Boy Name In England Is Muhammad

One of the biggest moments we will have in life is when our child is born. It’s a moment that has many decisions attached to it, including the name.

Many parents will spend months trying to come up with the perfect name for their child and sometimes, they don’t come up with that name until the child is actually born. Something that they may do is look at the top names that are selected for Boys and Girls in their home country, either to choose one or to avoid one.

In England and Wales in 2023, the Office for National Statistics has given the top names for boys. Muhammad is now the top name, overtaking Noah from 2022.

In 2023, Muhammad was used 4661 times for boys in England and Wales. In 2022, it was used 484 fewer times.

Noah was still used regularly as a name in England and Wales, but there were 204 fewer times in 2023. In 2022, it was used 4586 times and in 2023, it was used 4382 times.

It shouldn’t be a surprise that Muhammad is a popular name in the area. Ever since 2016, it has been in the top 10 but this is the first time that it made it to number one.

Not every region has it included in the top 10, but there are quite a few areas where it has been a very popular name. In addition, variations on the spelling of Muhammad, such as Mohammed and Mohammad have also made it on the list but they consider them to be a different name.

As far as girls are concerned, Olivia is the top name, followed by Amelia and Isla.

In addition, it seems as if there is more variety among the girl’s names, as Olivia was only used 2906 times in 2023.

Another interesting statistic involves hyphenated names. In 2023, they were used 19,140 times. That is an increase of 6810 over the previous year.

In addition, royal names are continuing to decline on the list.

It will be interesting to see what happens when the 2024 list is released.
