If you were to stop and think about rock music, what would be the first group that came to your mind? I’m sure that we might all think of someone different, but it is likely that there would also be someone who was on the minds of many. One of the individuals who certainly had an influence over music and continues to have it today was Freddie Mercury. His music is not only recognizable, it is also enjoyable to listen to. When we had the opportunity to see him on stage, he was also very interesting to watch because of his unusual outfits and his outlandish behavior. It went right along with his music and helped to move him into the position of being a superstar.
Freddie Mercury was the frontman for the rock band, Queen. He sang some of the most iconic and memorable songs that have ever been performed in rock music. For example, who hasn’t heard the song Bohemian Rhapsody, and many people who are in their early teens could sing the song by heart, even though the man that sang it has been dead for many years. There were many other songs that Freddie Mercury and Queen also sang that are well known down to this day. This includes songs such as Another One Bites the Dust and We Are the Champions. People loved his music and they still miss the fact that he is not performing today.
Freddie Mercury had been suffering from AIDS for a number of years and he was a very sick man but he still continued to get out in public every once in a while. This is one of those moments when he went to receive a Brett award for his contribution to British music. Brian May was there to do the talking for him.
Although Freddie Mercury was very sick, he did make an outing that evening. You can see that he was having a difficult time and was struggling throughout the process. It was nice that he was able to receive that award that evening, but it was the last time he would make a public appearance. You can see it for yourself in the following video:
