In any loving family, there is going to be some sort of appropriate physical contact. That contact can help to form a bond but at times, it may also raise concerns among others.
David Beckham has experienced this firsthand, as there are many people who feel it was inappropriate for him to kiss his seven-year-old daughter, Harper. It wasn’t necessarily the fact that they kissed, it was how they kissed that raised some concern.
Beckham shared the photo that was taken before they went ice-skating. Many people started criticizing it because he was kissing his daughter on the lips. They felt that he took his affection to a higher level than it should’ve been, but not everybody was in agreement.
While there were plenty who had something negative to say about the picture, there were many others who had something positive to say. This included some other celebrities who certainly are influencers.
The picture was posted and had the caption: “Christmas is coming…Let’s go skate.” Undoubtedly, Beckham wanted to make a point that they were having a good time but he likely didn’t want to start a lot of arguing.
There were some people who felt was improper and one who even called it disgusting. Even Piers Morgan had something to say about it on Good Morning Britain, referring to the picture as being ‘quite creepy’
Beckham may have hit a sour note with many but not everybody was thinking in that direction. There were many who defended and others who encouraged parents to kiss their children every day and tell them that they loved them.
Beckham didn’t respond to the critics right away, although he has talked in the past about the affection that he and his wife show the children. Another picture was also shown back in 2017, in which he was again kissing his daughter on the lips.
He said: “It’s how I was brought up and Victoria, and it’s how we are with our children.”
Some of the celebrities that came on to support back of included Tom Brady, the NFL quarterback who was also being shamed online for the same issue.
Hilary Duff, Gabrielle Union, and Jessica Alba have also publicly kissed their children or lips and shared those pictures online. They also received some criticism but when it happened on Duff’s page, she told them to hit unfollow if they didn’t like it.
