Keira Jones showed up at a Dallas area medical center already in active labor and the whole thing went sideways so fast. Her mom recorded a clip that shows Jones moaning and twisting in pain while the intake nurse just keeps asking her questions like nothing is happening and she barely even looks at her.
The nurse was identified as Lacrista Vaughn and in the video she keeps asking about due dates and how many kids she has and the doctor’s name. Jones can hardly talk so her mom tries to help answer, but the nurse just keeps typing like she is doing a form and nothing else matters.
Jones’ mom put the clip online where it blew up and the text on the screen said that they had her waiting more than 30 minutes and that the delivery was awful. People were furious because you can clearly see she is in trouble and nobody seems to care at all. Jones ended up giving birth just 12 minutes later.
At one point her mom asked her straight up: “Ya’ll treat all your patients like this or just the Black ones” and it was clear the nurse had nothing to say to that. Vaughn basically ignored everything and the whole thing felt unreal to watch.
The online reaction came fast and loud and people were posting Vaughn’s name and license all over the place. We are not saying that is right but once something hits the internet people do what they want and she found that out the hard way.
The hospital put out a general statement to the local news saying they care about safety and dignity and that they are reviewing what happened. They said they cannot talk more because of privacy laws but they say they want everyone to get respectful care.
No one was siding with the nurse in the comments and people kept pointing out how she never even looked up when Jones screamed. Someone wrote that the nurse’s dismissive attitude would have burned their soul and it is hard to argue because it looked terrible.
Some nurses online said it made them sick because Jones should have gone straight to a birthing room. One wrote that it was so upsetting and that Jones was clearly in pain and they were sorry it happened that way.

There are posts claiming Vaughn lost her job but nobody really knows for sure right now. People even found her old graduation photo on social media and started leaving comments like “You don’t deserve it” and “You will lose your license I guarantee.”
It is sad because this kind of thing is not new and mothers talk about being ignored all the time in hospitals. From what you can see in that video it feels like Jones and her baby made it through in spite of how she was treated and not because anyone helped her. Hopefully the hospital actually did something about it even if they cannot say anything publicly.
