All of us have somebody that we look up to and sometimes, we may even tell others about the fact that we idolize somebody in such a way. That was the case with Katie Kelzenberg, a senior at the Stillwater high school in Oklahoma. If you knew Katie, you would know that she is absolutely enamored with Dwyane “The Rock” Johnson. She has seen every movie that he has ever played in and has memorized most of the lines.
It is clear to see when you know Katie that she is a huge fan of The Rock. Of course, many people around the world would readily agree that he is an awesome individual. It is because she cares so much for The Rock that she decided to do something unusual. She wanted to go to the senior prom but she couldn’t figure out who to choose as a prom date. That is when she turned her attention to that superstar.
Katie wrote a letter to The Rock and asked him to be her date. There is no doubt it took a lot of courage but when he responded, it created a memory that will last a lifetime.
Of course, Katie didn’t really expect to hear back from him and she probably just thought that he was too busy to respond. After all, he’s got a very busy schedule with all of his movies and everything else going on in his life. One afternoon in the classroom, however, something interesting happened.
The afternoon announcements began to play over the loudspeakers, just as they do every day. It wasn’t long before Katie recognized a familiar voice as the announcer. It was a voice that they had never heard at the school before.
Suddenly, it dawned on her that it was The Rock! He had reached out to the administration of the high school and recorded the daily announcements remotely. He wanted to thank Katie for all her support.
He didn’t get right to the topic of the prom. First of all, he greeted the student body and that is when he turned his attention to Katie. When he mentioned her name, the entire room looked in her direction.
Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to attend the prom because it conflicted with his schedule. Even though he wasn’t able to be there in person, however, he wanted everyone to know that he appreciated one of his fans.
