Study Says Women Should Be Taking Naps At Work To Boost Productivity

There is nothing quite as refreshing as getting a good night sleep. Is something that many of us strive for but unfortunately, it also tends to be more of a luxury in today’s life. When we sleep, it allows our body to recharge and our mind sorts information that we gather during the day. It is perhaps one of the most beneficial things we can do for a healthy life and it is an activity that many of us tend to skip out on far too often.

Another benefit of getting a good night sleep is that it can give a boost to productivity. It doesn’t matter if we are sitting behind a workstation, giving a presentation to our fellow employees or if we need to take charge around the office, the extra sleep makes us feel better and get the job done. At the same time, skipping out on sleep can make you feel worse all day long and it can certainly take a chunk out of productivity as well.

If you find yourself sleepy during working hours, your mind may not be able to focus on the task at hand. You start to complain to your coworkers about how miserable you are and that certainly has an impact on the mood around the office. Most women would say that they are good multitaskers and it is true that they have a complex mind. That is also the reason why they tended need more sleep than men. On average, women need 20 minutes more sleep than men because of the way their brain works during the day.

Women tend to be busier in their schedule and they are not only working secularly, they are taking care of the family and managing a household. This means that their mind is busy all of the time and they tend to be exhausted. Women may also feel sleepy because their body goes through a lot of hormonal changes.

Those hormonal changes can take place on a monthly basis or also during certain times in life, such as pregnancy and menopause. The body has physical pain and discomfort associated with those changes and they require more sleep during that time.

They also tend to stress about problems at certain times of the month as well. It can be exhausting on their mind and sometimes, they just need a little time off to get some extra sleep.

One of the times when women may feel most sleepy is when they are at work. According to a report in the New York Times, it is not a crime to take a nap at work. It shouldn’t be wrong when you get the sleep you need because it can make you more productive all day long.

Studies have shown that people should be allowed to sleep in the workplace if it is beneficial to the company. It isn’t something you should feel sorry for doing. As a matter of fact, if you aren’t giving 100% because you are sleepy, it can be a very embarrassing situation.

The human body needs to rest every once in a while. Our body is similar to the cars we see on the street. Those cars need servicing if they are expected to be up and running regularly. If you wait until too much time passes, you may have a difficulty getting the car running again.

Let’s face it, it can be difficult to lead a life that is considered normal. Getting up early in the morning, working all day and getting the necessary sleep at night is next to impossible. Power naps may be the only way that you have to get through the day successfully.

If you nap for longer than 20 minutes, you may be lethargic and you could even crave more sleep. That is why it is important to limit how long you sleep or you may just find a boss standing in front of you with some walking papers.

If you plan on catching up on some sleep in the workplace, look for an empty room or perhaps go out to the car to take a quick nap. You will be back before you know it, refreshed and ready to take on the day. If you tend to nap for more than 20 minutes, set an alarm.

If you are at one of those people who can’t just sleep anywhere or anytime, then use earplugs to block sound and a mask to block the light.

You may have much on your mind and that can make you sleepy at work. You should also avoid eating a heavy meal or food that has a lot of oil or spices. It could make you feel sluggish in the middle of the day.

When your body doesn’t get enough sleep, there can be many negative effects. Women tend to be more flexible with handling a number of issues at one time. At the same time, this can make their mind restless and if they don’t get enough sleep, it can make them irritated or angry.

Depression may also be a side effect of too little sleep, as can a loss of appetite, problems with the eyes, posture and digestive system. If you have these issues, you may want to see a doctor.

Taking a nap frequently this can help to boost your productivity. A short nap can make all of the difference in being alert and effective at work.
