Simone Biles’ Perfect Yurchenko Double Pike Lands The Gold Medal

Simone Biles was well known as an athlete before the Olympics but now that the Olympics are underway, she is quickly making an even bigger name for herself. It just seems as if she continues to win one Olympic medal after another.

Simone helped team USA to win a gold in the all-around women’s gymnastics on July 30. Since that time up until now, she has earned two additional medals during the Paris games. This included the individual all-around competition and now, the vaults.

When you watch her doing her routine on the vault, you can’t help but be amazed at her style. She does the Yurchenko double pike so perfectly that they have even called it the Biles II.

That particular move earned her a 15.700, which is very close to being perfect. She had a foot that was slightly out of bounds, which is what cost her a few points.

Her second vault was at 14.900, so her overall score was 15.300. People were surprised that she even used the technique because she had fallen during warm-up and they weren’t sure if she was going to try it again.

The silver medal went to Rebecca Andrade from Brazil. Jade Carey from Team USA won the bronze with a score of 14.466.

As you can imagine, this is a historic year for the Olympics. Simone has won a number of gold medals and has even bypassed the previous record holder of seven medals.

There are still two more opportunities for her to win additional medals during the games in 2024. This includes the floor finals and the balance beam. We look forward to seeing it.
